Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Fingerprints.
Hi guys I’m hoping you guys can help me. I’ve started making much better cakes and even selling a few. However no matter how hard I try I always end up with fingerprints on it some where. Is there a way to get rid of them that I don’t know about? All tips would be great. X

Hi Lisajl
Make a medium sized ball with a spare piece of sugarpaste and use it like a rubber to smooth away any fingerprints. It helps to rub a little icing sugar into the ball first to make it less sticky. Try this on a practice cake or a dummy cake so you get used to the amount of pressure to apply when smoothing. Paul is seen doing this in some tutorials I can’t from the top of my head say which one. Hope it helps.
Thank you I’m about to finish of a cake in a minute so I’ll give it a try. I’ve never noticed him doing it always wondered how he got them so spot on. Other than being amazing of course.
