Flavouring sugarpaste
Has anyone tried flavouring sugarpaste? If so what brand of flavouring would you recommend? I’m guessing it would need to be quite concentrated to avoid making the sugarpaste too wet. I’m not too bothered about it affecting the colour of the paste. I made Halloween cupcakes last week and everyone ate the toppers. It’s just made me think that it would have been nice if they had actually tasted of something! Thank you.

That’s really helpful thank you. I’ll certainly leave some feedback once I’ve tried out flavouring some sugarpaste.
Hi Juleswz4
Sugarpaste can be flavoured as long as you don’t change the consistency of the paste. If you’re making it from scratch, the flavour can be added at the time of mixng the ingredients together. If you want to add flavour to ready made sugarpaste, use an intense oil based flavouring. I use foodie flavours:

These are my absolute favourites! The flavours are really intense and last ages. Another way would be to knead the sugarpaste in flavoured icing sugar or use the icing sugar to make paste from scratch. The company http://www.sugarandcrumbs.co.uk/ carries a big range of different natural flavoured sugars. Squires Kitchen also carries it’s own brand of natural flavoured icings and food flavourings.
If you’d like to have a go at making sugarpaste from scratch take a peek here for recipes:
Hope some of the above helps. If you do have a go at either method, your feed back would be much appreciated so that other members can learn from your experience. x
