Florist paste flowers ruined

Hi
I made some dummy wedding cakes one with a large wired flower and some smaller Flowers out of squires florist paste. They were displayed in a shop window but after a month the flowers have curled inwards including the large wired flower and the cakes now look a mess. I have been told the window gets condensation so I am guessing this is the cause.
Can you recommend a way of stopping this from happening?
Thanks
Tracey

Hi Tracey

The moisture from the condensation on the glass window is the most likely cause for destroying your display. Sugar attracts moisture so any models or flowers should ideally be stored or displayed in a dry, humid free environment. You could try displaying your flowers away from the window or perhaps move them away to a warmer part of the shop at night.
You could try artista modelling paste as seen in this blog:

More information here: http://www.artistasoft.co.uk/
Artista is a non toxic, non edible product for decorative use only.

Other option which might be worth exploring is to make flowers from a non edible mediums like cold porcelain or air drying polymer clay.
Hobby craft sell a variety of clays in all different colours which work out less expensive than flower paste. Cold porcelain can be made at home.
Hope some of the suggestions help.
