FMM bead maker

Can anyone tell me if this bead maker makes round beads/pearls, I mean completely round. It looks like it should but I didn’t have any success with the quick try I had earlier on.

Hi gina

I don’t have this bead cutter so can’t comment whether it will make totally round beads. I do know with my First Impressions mould it took me a lot of practicing before anything sensible came out. Perhaps your quick try wasn’t enough to get used to using the cutter? On viewing pictures it does look as it should make round bead however as with my mould the paste does have a habit of distorting on de moulding. I’m sure other members will also comment. x

Hi miwl, I do like the FI bead mould but got the FMM for whole beads and I think you’re right I haven’t had the time to test it out properly. I think perhaps it has to be a big sausage shape to fill both cavitys but even so it looks like there’s going to be a lot of work cutting out the residue paste and perhaps be more trouble than its worth. 🙁
Have you tried leaving paste in the mould (FI) for a few minutes before de-moulding? I am smiling now as I’m sure you don’t need any advice 🙂

We all need advice! I’ve done all sorts to try and get a string of beads, dusted with icing sugar, rubbed a little trex in the cavities, used lustre dust and stuck it in the freezer and oh yes, I’ve left it overnight!!!!! The beads always separate, I give up! x

A tutorial for FMM Bead Cutters –

Hi miwl, just came across this tutorial. Will let you know if I can get these out all in one string – like you haven’t been able to do that with FI.

Thank you gina, would be so good to finally achieve a string of beads/pearls. I’ve got very painful hand joints so that may have something to do with why I have so many problems. Will have a look at the tutorial in the link. x
