fondant keeps ripping !!!
I am trying to make the fire engine cake for my sons birthday but everytime I try cover the front with the red sugar paste it rips on the corners etc, don’t no what to do I have never had this much trouble covering a cake !!!

thank you for your answer, I was trying to cover it like the videos in one piece but I have done it in panels now and its worked out ok, next time I have bother I will try the tylose. thanks.

Are you icing the cake in panels? if you are and it’s stll ripping, add a little tylose to the sugarpaste to help strengthen it up a little. Add approximatly half a teaspoon to 250g of sugarpaste, let it rest for half an hour to allow the powder to active before rolling out again. Normally it’s fine to use the paste straight away but if you rolled and re rolled it, the rest will cool it down and help the tylose to work better. Don’t over use the tylose otherwise you’ll end up with gumpaste.
