Hi I was wondering for the chocolate sauce in the moist chocolate cake do you have to put in the coffee or can you leave it out

Paul says it enhances the chocolate flavour. I have made this cake with the coffee and I hate coffee. I hate the smell and taste of it to the extent that I have to leave a restaurant when they bring the coffee out.
The cake was delicious and no taste of coffee at all.
Don’t know if this is any help to you as don’t know the reason you want to leave it out.
