Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A

Hi all,

I am a beginner to all this cake baking milarky, anyway I am hoping that you kind people will have patience and help me for a while, I am looking at using the cake mixes but how do I know what quantities to use for lets say a 10″ cake?? also what would be the best ganache to use in your humble opinions?? sorry to sound so thick , but got to start somewhere 🙂 Thanks in advance Tina x

Which cake mixes were you thinking of using? They are not all suitable for producing cakes which require stacking and carving. Professional mixes will carry instructions on how to prepare and use. Wright’s cake mixes which are available through selected supermarkets and online directly from the producer, have information and recipes on their site:

The type of ganache to use is up to you. Paul has several tutorials in the free/beginners section which will get you under way for the type used in the lessons. The course on ganache is here:
