Help!! Whiteout keeps wiping out!!! URGENT!!,

I’m making the whiteout cake from Paul’s Christmas book….reindeers and trees are fab….but I’ve now made 3 sleighs …but not even been able to put it together yet because the sides just snap as soon as I lift them!!! I’ve done the think and thin no difference….but have been using a mix of flower and sugar paste because I don’t ave red flower paste…..

Any solutions….before I make Santa crash directly into the snow with the sleigh in a heap at the bottom of the hill!!!!

It’s only for family….so it’s my pride at stake with them all coming on Thursday!!

Thanks!

Hi therese1

Sounds like the panels are too thin or not dried sufficiently to hold shape and also possibly the paste isn’t quite strong enough. You could try adding a little tylose or gum tragacanth to help strengthen the paste. If all fails you could improvise by making the sleigh with stiff cardboard ( from a cardboard box) and covering it with sugar paste or the gum paste and letting it dry somewhere warmish but not humid. I suspect you’ve got it sorted by now, I hope it works out for you. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. X

Thank you!! Not sorted yet but brilliant idea re cardboard!! Simple solution I just hadn’t thought of! I don’t have any of the powders you mention! Thanks again and Happy Christmas! X
