Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
High quality sugarpaste
Please can I have high quality coloured sugarpaste recommendations which is easy to roll out please. Renshaw has really let me down this week. Not sure if due to weather. It’s become stretchy, tearing and see through on edges. I like taste of Renshaw so must taste good too.
Thanks

I have just used Massa Ticino sugarpaste for the first time. I can honestly say it is THE best sugarpaste I have ever used. No cracks, tears elephant skin or stretching. It is expensive but worth it a hundred times over. Tastes good too. Give it a try, you’ll never go back. Hope this helps!
I would also recommend Carma Massa Ticino, I have not tried the coloured paste yet, but the white is great to work with. I feels like silk when it’s rolled out and takes all the stress out of covering cakes. Good Luck.

Thank you
Hi gucci 906
I stopped using Renshaw’s past last year because of similar problems. I thought perhaps they had changed their recipe but on contacting them they told me they had not. There is quite a lot of discussion on the site about similiar experiences with their paste. I too have been using Carmas Massa and have found it to be an excellent sugarpaste. You’ll see discussions and links with the link about the Renshaw paste here:
Fondant – Make it or buy it? What do you do? What are your thoughts.
I’ve used the Massa pre coloured paste and find it excellent. Take a look at Paul’s horse head tutorial to see the vibrancy of the colours here:
The paste can be purchased in most online cake decorating stores. I think Cake Decorating company has it on offer at the moment.
I also have a blog on the Carmass Massa here:
If you type in the search box ‘sugarpaste’ you’ll see other related questions and answers and other brand recommendations from site members. Just click on the most relevent topics.

I love the carman massa tino paste,
The coloured paste is just as good as the White, best paste I have found,
Certainly will take some beating,
I also LOVE the Carma Massa! I didn’t use it when I was new because of the cost, but I use it for all my fondant wedding cakes. It rolls much thinner , stays pliable for a long time (no elephant skin) and has a very pleasant taste. I also use Satin Ice which I like very much. But, no question, Carma is THE best.
