The strengthening powders are known as Gum tragacanth, Tylose powder and CMC powder. There are other variations but these are the most frequently used.
Gum tragacanth is a natural substance obtained from the acaccia tree which is grown in certain middle eastern parts of the world. It is a type of gum. When added to sugarpaste it makes a strong modelling medium which needs to be rested for 12 -24 hours for the gum to activate. Tylose and CMC are chemical imitations of gum trag. When added to sugarpaste they too make a good modelling medium which can be used straight away without a resting period.
Hope this helps. If you need more information please post again.
