Icing Problem.

Hi Paul, I have a problem when I cover a sponge with fondant icing, every time I cover a sponge with buttercream & then fondant icing it goes on perfectly. But later the fondant seems to come away from the buttercream, Where am I going wrong ??

Hi Sweets2

If you’ve had the cake in the fridge and butter cream has become very solid wait a few minutes for it soften and then apply the fondant, the softened butter cream will allow the fondant to adhere. Give the covered cake a good gentle smooth with your hands and then use the smoother to finish off. Hope this works for you.
