Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Investment in equiptment,
Hey Guys,
So I have a bit of money to put into my equipment pot, I already have all my tins and cutters etc.
I am looking into buying a couple of ‘big’ tools, just really wanting some advice on whether these are any good, if any one has these things if they could give quick review? Also what order you would get them in as I’m struggling to choose!
Ok so firstly a Sheeter – (20″ sheeter to roll out icing – my arm muscles are v.small!)
Secondly Agbay cake Leveller
Thirdly, Kopykake Projector
Fourthly Cricut Cake Machine
And Finally an Edible Printer.
Also if anyone else has any good ideas on what to invest in id really appreciate any feedback! Thanks in Advance!
Stephanie

Hi Scatt,
I think madeitwithlove summed your question up perfectly when she said, “What you buy first is really up to what your priority needs are.”
But another thing to think about is having the room for the equipment you have listed. I know only too well how just the normal cake decorating items can somehow miraculously reproduce and invade various parts of the house, so unless you have a professional working kitchen then having the space in a domestic setting is going to be a crucial point to consider.
Hello scatt1992
I don’t understand why my answer to you yesterday didnot load. Perhaps I thought I had submitted and hadn’t!
Anyways, you seem to have a dream list for things most people would love to own.
What you buy first is really up to what your prioity needs are. If you are very busy already or expecting to have an immediate high turn over, some of those toys would certainly be extremely useful However most people find growing the business first. It gives them a better indication on the type of equipment they should invest in to make their business operate more effciently.
I have extremely weak arm muscles due to life changing illness but I don’t feel I need a sheeter. I do have the kingpin rolling pin which cost £60.00 and rolls 1.5 – 2k of sugarpaste like a hot knife through butter. My point is, do you really need a sheeter if you are just setting up? could you not invest some of that money into something which would benefit you immediately? and keep the rest of the funds in an account for the future as the business grows?
My first and foremost equipment would definitely be investing in Pro courses with David. The Pro courses are a must tool for anyone setting up in business. They provide answers to typical questions like your own not only for equipment but for everything else that you need to know from beginning to end. If you’re not already a Pro member take a look at what you’d get for a small investment here:

Investing in equipment, in my humble opinion, should be done according to growth of the business. I’m sure other members will give their opinions too. This is just mine. x
Thanks to both of you for your replies! will have a long think before jumping! 🙂
Hahaha Gina, I love your description of equipment reproducing and invading the house!! It conjurs up images too frightening to talk about! Is it a triffid or is it a dalek? or may be it’s cake pans and spatulas on the ramage!!
I’m selling off a lot of my stuff for sale to make room for me and my hubby!! xx
@ Stephanie, spend your pennies wisely, sometimes we buy things because they seem to be the must toy to own but they end up being white elephants. I know, I’ve got lots of white elephants which are soon going to safari!! xx
One good thing about our ‘white elephants’ madeitwithlove – they’ll never become an endangered species! xx
Good luck Stephanie with whatever you decide to buy xx
