Little icing bits

Hi
I have just made marshmallow fondant this morning – first time.
I melted the marshmallows and then incorporated the sieved icing sugar. I initially did it with my mixer and dough hook but then found I had to take it out to finish kneading. However on rolling out it has little bits of icing sugar throughout the fondant.
Where did I go wrong?

Hi AnnieLaurie

The little hard bits are caused by icing sugar not fully incorporating. This probably happened when you were kneading the fondant in the machine. Small amounts of the powdered sugar can became caught up in air pockets particularly if you added it in all at once. It may help to add the sugar in stages to avoid the problem in future.
If you leave the paste to settle overnight the sugar should dissolve and absorb back into the paste.

Hope this helps. Your feed back on how it turns out would be very useful.
