Mrs. Jones Sponge cake

In this course the lady mention that she cooks her 2 10 inch tins sponge cake for 1 hour at 160 Fahrenheit. Isn’t this a very low temperature to cook a cake? Perhaps she ment celcius?

Hello Linda Renaud

If you go to the tutorial here http://www.cakeflix.com/online-cake-decorating-courses/mrs-joness-recipe-for-10-round-deep-sponge-cake and scroll down to ‘notes’ you will see that the temperature is for 160c ( or celcius) for fan assisted oven. If your oven is not fan assisted the temperature would have to be increased to 180c, it would however be wise to consult the manufacturer’s hand book for your make and model of oven. Temperatures are a guide as all ovens are different. Hope this has helped.
