Mrs Jones Vanilla Cupcakes

I just watched your demonstration on the cupcakes and you added the Vanilla extract last and did not add any milk. Witch is correct? There is no vanilla in the recipe.

Regards Sharon.

Hi Sharon

I never use milk in cupcakes, if the mix is a little too stiff I just add a little water. Milk is optional in my mind, the most important thing is that the batter is not over stiff which will cause the sponge to be dense and dry. I have many CC books which don’t use milk. Some recipes ask for butter milk or a flavoured liquid like orange juice, that’s because the recipe is trying to achieve a particular texture and flavour so it is essential to follow what is asked for.

I’ve just watched it and noticed Mrs Jones not using any milk…could it be that milk is optional? I usually use sour-cream or buttermilk if needed x

Hi all,

I’ll try to get Mrs Jones’ attention on this. I get the feeling she said some people like to use milk but she prefers not to but I might be wrong best check with her!

Cheers
