Hi Amybucks, You can’t taste the coffee at all but I tend to put a little less in than the recipe. Having tried other chocolate cake recipes they all seem to have coffee added it seems to bring out the chocolate flavour. Kind regards Grace

I can taste the coffee in the cake and also dislike it so will always leave it out and it doesn’t make a difference.

As a person who does not drink coffee at all, I can taste the coffee in the recipe…but only on the first bite. It may be that I am super sensitive to it though as my friends say they can not taste it at all!

I’ve left the coffee out today by mistake, i haven’t tasted it yet but I can smell the bicarbonate of soda, so perhaps the coffee is there to disguise the flavour of the bicarbonate ….?
