Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Paul’s moist chocolate cake recipe
Hi, has anyone made the chocolate cake recipe in a 10″x8″ tin? I’m looking to make the Louis Vuitton handbag cake and just wondered if the measurements provided in the recipe are enough or if I need to increase them?
Hi mrsh1978
10 x 8 recipe can be found here: https://www.cakeflix.com/questions/pauls-moist-chocolate-cake-my-feed-back
Please scroll down to see it and other information. You can do 10 x 10 if its more convenient and use the left over cake for other projects.
Thanks so much Madeitwithlove. Fingers crossed it turns out ok and doesn’t sink as people have said it might.
If you haven’t already baked the cake yet, I would highly recommend reading the comments here : https://www.cakeflix.com/questions/pauls-moist-chocolate-cake-my-feed-back You’ll read how some members have reduced the sugar to get better results. It is the sugar which can cause the collapse although not everyone experiences the same. I bake the recipe as is without too many problems . Hope your bake comes out well. x
Thanks, I’ll have a look. What are the measurements for the dark chocolate ganache for the cake please? I’ve never made ganache before! I know its 800g but is that 400g chocolate and 400g double cream?
Here is the link for all the on site calculators: https://www.cakeflix.com/cake-calculators-to-make-your-life-easier
Select the ganache calculator, type in your requirements and it will give you the quantities. 🙂
Cake has turned out great. The top sunk a tiny but but nothing too tragic. Thanks for all the advice madeitwithlove.
Pleased for your results, thank you for taking the time to feed back. Did you find the ganache calculator?
Hope it was useful. x
