Preserving Cake Toppers

Hi,
I made a fondant/flowerpaste topper for a wedding cake ( tractor with bride and groom).
The bride has asked me if there is any way of preserving the topper.
I know it will keep for a year or two but is there anything it can be sprayed with to help keep it longer?
Has anyone done this before?
Thanks.

Hi dianne if you keep it in a cardboard box away from sunlight and damp it will keep for a good few years.

I’ve read in different forums that spraying with hair lacquer helps seal and preserve cake toppers. It’s possible art sprays used on acrylic paintings could work. I would experiment with that one before going live on the real thing. Hobbycraft or an art shop would be able to advise.
I spray mine with PME clear glaze and keep in a well ventilated cake box away from moisture and direct sunlight.
Don’t store in plastic airtight box as this cause condensation inside the box and make the topper soften and wilt.
