How about using a flexible mould. take a peek at the following:
Continuous Quilting Silicone Mould
There are lots of other similar tools which you can see by googleing ‘cake quilting mould’. I’m sure you’ve already had a look on youtube. If you haven’t, there are lots of different good tutorials which may help. Search ‘how to quilt a round cake’.
