You could use embossers like this one from Patchwork cutters http://www.patchworkcutters.co.uk/catalogue_details.asp?product_id=29&group=0
PME make diamond quilting mats which can be used to emboss the pattern on, just google search it.
Another way would be as Paul has done in the handbag tutorial here http://www.cakeflix.com/handbag-cake-lesson-5-bag-detail-sides-and-zip That’s how I do it then gently use the stitching wheel from the PME tool set to go over the marks. Using the cone tool, ( plain or star end) to make a slight dent in between where the lines cross finishes off the quilted look.

Thanks I bought the patchwork embosser ill try with that just would be nice to be able to find a tutorial but only able to find them with the ruler methods
