ready reckoner/ cakeometer
Im a bit confused, i tried the ready reckoner chart which worked out that for the size tin i wanted to use i should times the ingredients by 1.4 , yet on the cakeometer when i input all my ingredients it came out the same multiply by 1.4 but the new recipe quantities were different, please help me as i know its important to use the correct amounts. thanks

In order to say why there is a discrepancy I need to have the original recipe, the tin sizes and the recipe that you have calculated.

the original recipe was for pauls moist chocolate cake, tin size 10″ square, the tin size i calculated for this recipe was 12″ square.
Ok chrissy, what was your calculation? There is a very slight difference between the cakeometer and the ready recknor, not significant enough to affect the recipe.
