Hi, I’m not too sure but I’m thinking that the cake would probably be too dark to take on the colour.
Hi I agree with Susan I think you would need to do a vanilla or madeira to achieve the red velvet colour. Just been to Asda and noticed a red velvet cake mix if that interests you, kind regards Grace
It doesn’t have to be a white cake as red velvet has cocoa in it, I just think that a rich chocolate cake would be too dark.
I have been struggling with red velvet too, I find when I add the cocoa it is too brown but if I just use vanilla sponge it goes orange. I have been considering using a white cake too (making the sponge with white vegetable fat).
