Reguarding the westie terrier dog cake

I want to make a Yorkshire terrier cake, using the westie terrier as a template. Have you got any advice so I can achieve a realistic cake. I would be very grateful for any advice. I have watched the tutorial and really enjoyed watching it. Thank you for you time.
Kind regards

Hi Tracey

The Westie cake tutorial is an excellent guide for a Yorkshire terrier if you want your cake to have a similar pose. In which case I would suggest looking at some google images of Yorkies and use one as a reference along side the Westie tutorial. This is quite cute:

However there are lots more which may appeal to you better. If you also google Yorkshire terrie templates, you may be able to download head shape while still staying with the Westie body shape. Obviously a few nips and tucks will be necessary when shaping. As long as you have a reference point you’ll be able to create the Yorkie characteristics the same as Paul has done with the Westie.

Take a peek at this quick time tutorial too as it may also help with creating the coat. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGUZEQiwm7E

Hope some of the suggestions help. 🙂

That’s great thank you for your help. To transport the cake would you recommend part blown up balloons, to help support the head?

Kind regards

I have never used ballons to support cakes so I’m not able to say whether it would be any good. I would worry that if the balloons were to touch the finished cake, they might cause damage. I think the way Paul has dowelled the head should be secure enough for safe transportation. Looks pretty solid to me. 🙂
