Reindeer Cake – Ganache

Hi all,

I am hoping someone can help me, in the ingredients for the reindeer cake it requires 1kg of ganache, had a look at the trusty “how to ganache cakes without gnashing your teeth guide” so I know how much of what I need to make it up – no probs there. My question is, I would like to know how much of the ganache (approx. cups) is actually the filling between the cake layers, as I would like to flavour that with peanut butter (sounds odd but tastes fantastic!!).

Any help greatly appreciated, as I am new to this I am a bit nervous guessing at this stage.

Thank you in advance for any answers/guidance. 🙂

Hi Mamie

I can’t help much with cup measures however I usually use 300g of ganache to fill an 8″ 3 layer round cake. The reindeer cake is carved down from a 10″ square so I would think that would be more than enough. I made the teddy cake when it was first online, (same template I believe) but can’t remember how much I used. I think it would also depend how generous you are with fillings. Why not place 300g of ganache in a separate bowl and see whether you feel that would be enough? If you need to use a little more you could always make up a small amount to add for the crumb coat.
