If you’re doing it yourself just carefully slide a palette knife under the board and gently lift. If you used royal icing carefully work around the board until the cake releases. Ganache will lift more easily if you use a hot palette knife, the chocolate will melt and the board will release. At venues the kitchen staff will normally do it for you when the cake is taken away for slicing.
