I thinks he number is a point. either for the number of questions answered or when the answer is helpful members can click on the up arrow and I think it give you a point.

Looks like Mich may have used madeira cake or a recipe which uses a combination of self raising and plain flour.
The cakes defintely look denser than a normal sponge. You could contact Mish yourself and ask her. Here are her contact details:
