Satin Ice sugarpaste

Does anyone have any feedback on Satin Ice? I have heard its a bit like Marmite! You either love it or hate it. I don’t understand what there could be to hate when it’s a sugarpaste that can be put in The fridge!!!

Hi sandrafrearson

There are lots of comments here http://www.cakeflix.com/questions/satin-ice or just put in the search box ‘satin ice’. x

I’ve left an answer in ‘satin ice’ to your last query in that section. x

Just had a thought, try BFP supplies, Paul has them listed in the free/beginners section here http://www.cakeflix.com/online-cake-decorating-courses/free/suppliers. I know they do keep Satin Ice products so might be worth giving them a call. x

Thank you. I have just looked but they don’t seem to have any Satin Ice at all 🙁 Sandra

Hi sandrafrearson, although BRF do not have Satin Ice on there product list on their website they do sell it. I receive monthly newsletters from them and it has featured in them. I’ve never used it but reviews seem to be good.

Thank you for that but I have found some at The Great Cake Warehouse. Fantastic price too!!! I used it for the first time last week to cover a 12″ dummy and thought it was brilliant. The proof will be when i come to do my daughters wedding cake – 14″ base tier!! Sandra

Hi Sandrafrearson, I use Satin Ice on all my wedding cakes and celebration cakes, I really like the finish and without any cracks too

Hi annascakes. Do you use any icing sugar or corn flour when you are rolling it out? Also do you use a silicone mat? I have a 2-part mat but I could do with an extra large non slip one but struggling to find one big enough in the UK. Sandra

Hi Sandra, thank you for leaving a link, that helps me out too. I emailed Satin Ice when you first posted to ask why it’s so difficult to get their ready tinted product. To date I’ve never had a reply. However I made other inquiries and have been told that there are certain Satin Ice colours are not permitted in the UK and this may be causing the shortage. x

Thank you for trying to help with that. I think maybe the colours will be available here later this year. Sandra

I really hope so Sandra because I’ve got so used to using Satin Ice and find it best for me that I was beginning to fear I would have to change to something new. The Sweetart sugar paste which Debbie Brown used in the Cute Baby tutorial comes very close but of course it isn’t available in the UK yet…. TYPICAL!! I’ll get some more at the show in November for my Christmas cakes.

I have just contacted BFP for a trade account and they do stock statin ice

Hi Lynda

Is that both tinted and natural?

I have spoken directly to someone at Satin Ice and apparently nobody in the UK can stock the tinted Satin Ice until it had passed all the EU regulations. Hopefully this will be later this year. Sandra

Has anyone tried the Sattina sugarpaste. I love it.
I find it very similar to Satin Ice and they do some lovely pastel shades.
