Hi loopylisa
The moist choccy cake doesn’t really do well in silicone bakeware. The cake is very moist, the batter needs slow baking in a tin well protected with lining paper. Other members may have more information.
Hi, Thanks for helping out I will use my tins. I am making an iPhone cake for my niece not too sure what tin to use though, is a loaf tin the right sort of width or would you do it need to be wider??

Hi Lisa
I should think that would be the right width but it won’t be a very big cake though. If you think that would be enough you can convert the tin size here http://www.cakeflix.com/blog/how-to-work-out-what-size-cake-tin-to-use Scroll down to the cakeometre link, it might be better for converting oblong tins. For easier conversion purposes the whole choc cake recipe is for 10″ square tin.
Hi, madeitwithlove, thank you for taking the time to help and advise me. I opted for going out and buying a bigger tin and used the converter. Cake is now in the oven and I am keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks again

Hi Lisa
You’re welcome, I hope all goes well. If you want to try out your silicone pan for this recipe make a small cake to see how it turns out. I’ve abandoned all my silicone pans because I find they don’t give a good rise and some recipes come out rubbery. I know some people swear by them but I can only give an opinion based on my own experience. Don’t be tempted to open the oven door. x
Yay I did it, I was good and resisted looking in the oven and at 2 hrs I checked it and it was done, it smells delightful I can’t wait to turn it into an iPhone…thanks again
