Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Slightly Chamfered Cake Dummy
Hi,
I used to get my cake dummies from a company that Paul recommended a couple of years ago, he used them all the time. They custom made dummies which were great from Cake International competition cakes as they did dummies which had a slightly chamfered edge…so not round but not entirely sharped edged either, just slightly which made them easier to ice. I have been searching for that company but I cannot remember what they were called and dummies direct and cake dummies.com don’t make them. Any ideas as to which company this was??? Thanks in advance 🙂

Hi Jane Barrette
Dummies Direct is the one you’re looking for! From what I understand they had ceased trading for a very short time but they are up and running as usual and can be contacted here: Tele: 01443 862162

Hope this information helps 🙂
Thanks i did try to contact them but they said they don’t do them which is such a shame
The edge can be smoothed down with fine sand paper or simply use your rolling pin and rub it on the edges to make it rounded. It’s a bit of a faff but it works, just go gently so as not to dent the polystyrene.
