Soapy Bath Cake

Hi,
Is it royal icing used for the “bubbles” in and around the bath? If so is glycerine added to the mixture or not?
Many Thanks,
Anna.

Hi Anna

It is Royal icing, just 100g of it. Not really worth adding glycerine to such a tiny amount. However if you do want to use it, rule of thumb is to use 1 teaspoon of glycerine to 450g of Royal icing to keep it from setting hard. In this case you’d probably need less than a quarter of a teaspoon. You could just soften down some sugarpaste to a piping consistency. It would save you make royal icing and sugarpaste already contains glycerine.
All you need is a ball of sugarpaste and a few drops of warm water sprinkle over. Use a palette knife to paddle the sugarpaste back and forth on a clean counter, add a couple more drops of water and keep paddling until the paste becomes soft enough to pipe. It only takes a couple of minutes and saves a lot of work.
Hope this helps!
