Do you need to put ganache icing on chocolate biscuit cake before icing?

I think it would be a good idea to ganache the biscuit cake before icing. I believe the biscuit cake is supposed to be kept cool because it softens at room temperature. The ganach will keep it more stable and also give a smoother surface to lay your icing on. I’ve never iced a biscuit cake before so I would assume that the biscuit should be chopped up quite small other wise it will be quite nobbly when you ice it. Hope this helps.x
