Welcome to the Cake Decorators Q&A
Does any know how to make sugar paste binoculars.
Thank you.
Hi Kath McKeown
The easiest way is to roll two fat barrels of paste and link them with a bridge piece. The lens can be made with light grey cirlcles of sugar paste with a smaller black circle in the centre of the grey. Add to the body a neck strap with a long piece of fondant. This is the simplest and crudest example. Another way would be to roll out rectangular pieces of fondant and roll them around a thick rolling pin or some covered kitchen roll card, making a seal where the fondant meets. Let this dry and set hard before introducing a block of gumpaste as the bridge to hold the two barrels together. Make neck strap with a long thin piece of fondant and stick ot the sides of the barrel.
I’m only giving a slight guide as to how to make a start. There are lots of craft binocular tutorials online if you google how to make toy binoculars or cake topper binoculars. Take a peek also at Paul’s camera cake tutorials for little hints and tips when forming texture and how to make the neck strap. I hope some of the ideas will get your creative juices flowing. 🙂
