I’m afraid I can’t help you much with the recipe but as far as I know Stork is a margarine brand said to be “perfect for cakes” and it is much cheaper than buying butter. I still prefer the taste of real butter though and wouldn’t say Stork is any easier to work with. Hope this helps. 🙂
Hello Spices
The cakes used in the topsy turvey tutorial look very much like madeira sponge. If you click on ‘maderia cake’ in the popular questions list on this page, you will see many comments on how to achieve a moist carving cake. There is also a member’s recipe which might be worth trying.
Stork margarine is a vegetable fat based spread, very popular for making sponge cakes, however, for a good madeira it is better to use unsalted butter.
stork is a margarine which i find is better for making sponge cakes
I’m also on the look out for a receipe for a moist cake that is suitable for carving. Does anyone have one they would like to share. thanks
