The inside of mockup decorated cake

Dear Paul,

Seeing from the background while you are decorating the cake . I saw some of the decorated ones displayed on the shelves behind you. I was wondering if the inside is a real cake or a styrofoam ? I need to make a mockup for showing in my shop and would like to have them last for sometime. Your advice is very appreciated.

Hello Araigordai

Some of the cakes in the background might be real, you’d need to go to the tutorials to see whether Paul used real of dummy. Paul has started to use more dummies particularly for cakes which need straight forward decorating ie round and square. He tends to use real cake if we’re being taught how to carve a particular shape.
If you’re displaying cakes in your shop it would be much more practical to use dummies which will last for much longer than real cakes. If you type ‘display dummies’ in the above search box you’ll see other answers which will help.
