Top toer dummy

Hello ,im doing a cake for a friend which will have to travel for an hour wiyh the car.the bottom tier will be a cake the top tier dummy.will i have to dowel the bottom tier?i did this previously with the bottom being a bisvuit cake without dowelling and it was ok.but nowill do Paul’s chocolate cake.Sorry if it was answered again.A simple yes or no would do.Thank you!!

Hi. I would just use three bubble straws. Even though it’s a dummy cake, it will still have some weight from the sugar paste? Be on the safe side πŸ™‚

Good advice from cakecat. It does depend on how much decoration the dummy will be adorned with plus the sugarpaste. Personally, I would dowell the bottom tier as if it was taking the weight of a real cake. Better to be safe than sorry! πŸ™‚

Stick with the dowelling ? it’s easier than sorting out a disaster. Good luck, hope all goes well ?
