History of Terry’s Chocolate Orange
Terry’s Chocolate Orange is a chocolate confectionery product produced by the British confectionery company Terry’s. It consists of a hollow chocolate orange filled with individually wrapped chocolate segments, each shaped like an orange segment.
The chocolate orange was invented in 1932 by Frank Hall, a director of Terry’s. Hall was inspired by the orange trees he saw while on holiday in Spain. He wanted to create a chocolate that captured the taste and appearance of an orange.
The first chocolate oranges were made by hand, but in 1936 Terry’s developed a machine that could mass-produce the chocolates. The chocolate orange quickly became a popular product, and it is now one of Terry’s best-selling products.
Terry’s Chocolate Oranges are made from a blend of dark and milk chocolate. The chocolate is poured into molds shaped like oranges, and then the molds are cooled and the chocolate is removed. The chocolate oranges are then filled with individually wrapped chocolate segments.
Terry’s Chocolate Oranges are a popular Christmas confectionery, and they are also enjoyed throughout the rest of the year. The chocolates are sold in a variety of sizes, from small individual oranges to large gift boxes.
