4. Gate and Fence
In this lesson Paul show’s how to paint directly on to the cake without using templates to create a spooky fence and gate effect. Painting on the cake helps to give depth to the design.
5. The Moon
Paul finishes off the tombstones then shows how to make a spooky moon, in-keeping with the design. He then dusts the moon and places it onto the cake, then places the tombstones around the top of the cake to start to bring the design together.

Just spending the time making the stones will add so much value to this cake, see how rocks, scattered and stacked, make all the difference. When Paul attaches the bats and pumpkins and a little pebble pathway, it really does begin to take shape.

This makes a perfect cake to make with the kids for Halloween. If you’re hosting a party then it makes an incredible centrepiece perhaps surrounded by decorated pumpkins and all the other scarey things associated with Halloween. This is design is suitable for a beginner or intermediate. If you are just starting out maybe replace the little boy with another tombstone or pumpkin, but it’s certainly worth having a go.
